Setting expectations

People can only meet expectations they know about. For each person on your team, be clear on:

• What results they own.
• How quality will be judged.
• When and how they should update you.
• What decisions they can make on their own.

Write it down and share it. A two-line email after a conversation prevents months of misunderstanding.
